The Mayor of Rodney is vowing to fight her district's inclusion in the Super City following this morning's confirmation of the boundaries.
An extra ward and two additional local boards were revealed today, but Rodney's bid to be excluded was not granted.
Mayor Penny Webster says her council held a meeting this afternoon to figure out its next move. She says a lot of people in Rodney feel they haven't been listened to and there is still a lot of angst in the district.
The southern boundary of the new city will see a significant chunk of Franklin become part of the Waikato District.
Waikato Mayor Peter Harris says when his district inherits a significant chunk of Franklin, it also inherits massive debt. He says rates could double, if Auckland does not pick up the tab.
