Bus and Train Fares Could Rise

The Green Party warns that bus and train fares will rise significantly in Auckland if the Government pushes ahead with plans to raise a greater share of the costs from passengers.

Green Party Transport spokesperson Gareth Hughes says the NZTA Board is meeting today to approve the Government’s recommendation of setting a farebox recovery ratio of 50% for the main cities.

The current ratio in Auckland is 44%.
