A man is fighting for his life in Auckland City Hospital after falling off a balcony in Glen Innes last night.
Emergency services were called to the block of flats about 6.45pm and rushed the man, in his 50s, to hospital in a critical condition.
He suffered broken bones and a severe head injury in the fall.
A neighbour claims that the man and two other men - believed to be in their 60s - who lived at the house were known to be "heavy drinkers" and would often argue.
