Some local knowledge helped Team New Zealand to a comfortable victory on the opening day of the Louis Vuitton Trophy sailing regatta.
Tactician Ray Davies took full advantage of the light winds that delayed racing for six hours - expertly guiding the kiwi crew around the course one minute and 40 seconds quicker than their Swedish opponents.
Along with Team New Zealand, Azzurra, All4One and the Aleph Sailing team also picked up victories on the opening day.
Today's racing is due to start at 11am, with All4One racing Team Origin in the first race of the day, followed by Mascalzone Latino vs. Team New Zealand, Azzurra vs. Synergy and Artemis vs. Aleph.
