Widespread Concern Over Super City Plans

There is widespread concern that Aucklanders may have very little say in how the new Super City is run.

Super City mayoral candidates John Banks and Len Brown and other local community leaders are shocked by the government's plans to create seven "council-controlled organisations".

The CCOs would be run by Government-appointed directors with no input from local leaders and would be responsible for at least 75 percent of services in the new Super City.

There is particular concern about the organisations being set up to look after transport and the waterfront.
