The Waitakere Bears have won both the men's and women's titles in the Auckland Fastpitch Championship.
The Waitakere men defeated the Mt Albert Ramblers 6-4 in Saturday's final, while the Waitakere women beat Otahuhu 3-0.
Paddie Shannon managed to shut down the Ramblers dangerous batting line-up for six innings, while the Bears sluggers took advantage of the inexperience of young Ramblers pitcher Saan Tuoro to build up a 6-0 lead.
Ramblers managed four runs in the seventh inning, but it wasn't enough as the West Aucklanders claimed a deserved victory.
In the women's decider, Bears pitcher Michal Tangaroa was dominant, throwing a near perfect game to shut out Otahuhu. Despite the dominance of Tangaroa, the rest of the Bears’ performance was below its best, as the team managed just four hits against pitcher Naomi Iosasa.
